Although we focused on Dr. Seuss for most of the day, during math we veered off into fractions!
We read the first half (no pun intended) of "Give Me Half"!

Then we practiced folding shapes in half to find the line of symmetry. The kids practiced writing 1/2 and shading a few shapes to show 1/2 of a whole.
As the kids finished their shapes, I helped them create a mirror image painting by drawing the line of symmetry then painting one side and folding! Finally, they created a label to show exactly where the line of symmetry was!
At the end of the day I asked the kids to share their favorite part of the day and so many of them said math! Music to my ears!
